1. How do I use spells?

Open your main menu, (bind a key to "mainmenu") select spells 1 or 2, select the spell you wish to use. To cast the spell, press a key bound to +jump.

2. What engines are recommended?

DarkPlaces: http://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/
Telejano: http://telejano.berlios.de/wiki3/

But any engine should do. For multiplayer, Darkplaces is recommended.

3. I get a really big error when choosing Single Player -> New Game. Why?

This is a DarkPlaces bug. It should be fixed soon. Maybe. For now, to begin a new game in DP bring down the console and type "map curig2" and press enter.

4. My cursor moves slow. What can I do?

If you're playing SP or you are the server in a multiplayer game, type "sv_maxspeed *" where * is a number higher than 320. The default is 320. If your mouse moves to fast, type a lower number.

If you're a client in a multiplayer game, get the server to increase the limit/scale.

5. Is there multiplayer support?

But of course! However, when playing multiplayer your character cannot be saved or loaded unless the server is using an engine capable of FRIK_FILE. Your character is saved server side, so you may need to send your local pgs file to the server operator to play.

6. In what file(s) is my character data saved?

Character data in single player is stored in the s*.sav file (corresponding to the slot you used). In multplayer your character data is stored in YourName.pgs and YourName.pgb. The name is what you set for your name on the Multiplayer -> Customize menu.

7. Where is Prydon's IRC room?

Connect to irc.anynetorg, join the channel #prydon (type the command "/join #prydon")

8. How should I start a multiplayer server?

The commandline you should use is:

darkplaces -dedicated -game prydon +map save

The +map save part of the commandline forces Prydon to reload the gamestate from gamestate.pgg to continue from where the game left off.

If you're playing over the internet (not recommended) add +temp1 1 to the commandline. This can reduce lag and make the game more compatible.

9. Why cant I load my MP char in SP?

This is a limitation of the system. Support for this may come at a future date.

10. How can I build my own maps?

Using a Quake map editor. Information about the entities and values is available in the Prydon Dev Kit.

11. Where did you get the name from?

It's somewhat explained in the story. As for the origin of the name Prydon is an old Welsh phonetic spelling of "Britain". Gate refers to a gateway, which is what the story is really all about.

12. Why doesn't Prydon use more up-to-date technology, like md3 models and q3bsp?

A promise was made for Prydon Gate to work on older quake engines, especially Dreamcast Quake engines, and that promise stays.

13. Were any animals harmed in the making of this mod?

No. Wait. One was.
